Week in Review
We're in our last 3 days! This time of year flies by because it is SO jam-packed with events in and out of school.

Thank you for your patience while my computer was on the fritz with uploading pictures. The good news is that all of those pictures will be displayed in our end of year video. Every year, I show a video on our last day of school to showcase all that your child has done in first grade. You are invited to attend our end of year awards ceremony this Thursday, May 31. We will meet in our classroom at 10:15 and begin awards around 10:20. Afterwards, we will go outside for a picnic until our specials begin at 11:35.

Hope to see you there!

Here's a glimpse at some of our Teach the Teacher lessons! The kids had a blast with this :)

We also got to see the newly renovated Wellington garden this week!

I'm so sorry to do this again but my computer seems to just barely be hanging in there for the end of the year. I have tried all weekend to get these photos to transfer onto my computer but it still won't even sync the photos from LAST week! I will try my best to get them transferred in time for our end of year celebration.
So sorry, again. :(

The post has been delayed this week because I have been trying to get these pictures uploaded but the site is being finicky! Consequently, there are no pictures for the week. :( You'll see them soon at our end of the year awards in the classroom on the last day of school!

Week in Review
This week was jam-packed and so much fun!
In math, we had fun exploring calendars.
We worked on putting the months in order.

And discussing the seasons of each month!
We also discussed the parts of a calendar and how it all goes together.

We also had a blast studying and learning about The Kentucky Derby!
One of our favorite parts of the week was learning about the difference between farm horses and race horses. To narrow it down, we compared Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds.

Each group had the opportunity to present their poster to the class and teach us about the differences of each breed.
We also learned about the parts of a horse and labeled those on our own horse posters!

Their favorite part was designing their own jockey silks and explaining how the silk tells about themselves. I've got my hands on these in hopes of laminating them for longterm keeping :)

We also filled out an entire flipbook with Derby facts!

Probably the most entertaining part of our week was writing a letter to "Mr. Derby" about whether or not we felt like other animals should be allowed to race in the Derby. Prepare to crack up!

Have a great week!
