Week in Review
We had another fun week learning about holidays with Globetrot Scott!
At the beginning of the week, he visited France...
He sent us YULE LOGS!
The kids were only a little bit excited :)
We also learned that many people in China are preparing to celebrate the Chinese New Year! One of the ways kids celebrate is by receiving golden coins in red envelopes. These coins are said to bring good luck. We made our own gold coins and wrote notes to our friends on them. The kids had a blast sneaking around to deliver their notes to their classmates.
When Mr. Scott made his way to Russia, he sent us our very own Matryoshka doll (nesting doll) and the materials to make our very own sets! The kids were so creative in designing their own dolls! :)
The last country we learned about was India! Your first grader learned about Diwali, the Festival of Lights, that many people celebrate in India! Mr. Globetrot Scott sent us materials to make our own lanterns to celebrate this beautiful holiday!
When we weren't learning about other countries or working away in math, your sweet first graders were loving sitting by our digital fireplace (I just look up fireplaces on YouTube and project them on the screen - the sounds are so dreamy!). The picture below was taken after your sweet kiddos laid on the carpet and begged for me to read book after book! I just love this time of year and their absolute love of reading :)
