Week in Review
Here's a fun look back at the past 2 weeks!
We read this hilarious story about a Thanksgiving dinner gone horribly wrong!
We had a blast coming up with what our Thanksgiving dinner would be to replace all of the missing food from the story.
We also read
and imagined what we would do if we were a turkey trying to escape Thanksgiving!
Some of our ideas for disguises were hysterical!
To review our phonics sounds before the break, we did graffiti around the room.
When we got back from the break, the kiddos were pumped to learn about a new type of writing: explanatory. To kick off the unit, we made some first grader trail mix! Looking at the recipe helped us understand that explanatory writing teaches you how to do or make something.
(We used raisins, pretzel sticks, marshmallows, and goldfish).
Later in the week, the kiddos had their opportunity to try out their own explanatory writing.
In math, we worked hard to count HIGH numbers. We did this by covering up shoe prints with objects to practice 1 to 1 correspondence. We also practiced writing numbers to 120 by making our own counting strips!
Have a FANTASTIC WEEK!
