Hi families! Below you will find a guide on the work that your first grader will be asked to complete over these next days of digital learning. I know that these are unexpected and stressful times. Please know that I will be available via e-mail and Zoom conferences to answer any questions that you may have (see details at the end of this post). We are all learning how to do this as we go. If you have feedback for me, please let me know.
You can access this same information in a different format here:
Daily Expectations
Below you will find a general outline of what your child will be expected to do each day. These should take approximately 90 minutes total/per day. Please break up activities. (Students are not expected to sit for longer than 10-20 mins in the classroom without movement breaks at this age.)
Your first grader will access all of these resources via the Google Classroom!
Password: first three letters of K teacher + lunch number (Ex: Car12345)
- Morning Message - Students will log into Google Classroom daily and answer a question. Their answer will serve as attendance.
- Reading - Students will read independently for 20 minutes every day. Students will also listen to a story and answer questions via a Google Form.
- Math - Students will complete a digital activity each day. If you would like an extension activity, Splash Math or Xtra Math are great resources. An alternative to that would be practicing their math facts with flash cards.
- Writing - Students will respond to a writing prompt. They should make sure that all sentences make sense, start with a capital letter, have the correct end mark, and that all sight words are spelled correctly.
- Sight Words - We will continue with our weekly sight words. Students will complete the Sight Word Workout Powerpoint every day. There will also be an activity for students to do to help learn their sight words and spelling words. Some of the activities may be:
