Week in Review
This week was all about the ZOO! The kids learned about an upcoming project in which they'll be designing zoos as a group in the classroom. To begin, we learned about animals that had escaped zoos all over the world! We started to brainstorm ideas and designs for ensuring zoos were safe for the animals AND the people visiting them.
The kiddos began drawing their ideas (before we had done any true research)
Here's a list of some things we thought might be necessary to make our animals feel safe (and the humans, too).
We also knew that working in a group to design such a BIG project would require some preparation. We worked to create something in a group with limited supplies and directions.
It was so fun to see their minds at work!
This helped us brainstorm some "group norms" that we thought would help us to avoid any problems in the future. After compiling our list and reciting it VERY dramatically, we signed our group norm contract.
I think we're all a little excited about what this project will look like :)
By the end of the week, some of us were already making some great improvements in our research by actually getting our brochures COMPLETED! I cannot wait for the kiddos to be able to share all of their hard work with you before the year is over :)
Wondering where the zoo pictures are? I love to hold on to these for our end of the year book and slideshow. If you were a chaperone on the trip, please send me the pictures you took! I would love to include them! :)
