Week in Review
Can you believe it's already November?! October came and went and we're already thinking about the remaining holidays in 2017! First grade packs it all in over the next several weeks so be on the lookout for signups to donate items to make this part of our year a memorable one.
I was only able to be at school for 3 days this past week due to attending a conference at the end of the week, but here is a look back at what we were up to while I was with your first graders!
We had so much fun dressing up for our Character Parade!
We ended up with MORE THAN 200!! Your first graders were exhausted after counting so high!
We had a very serious competition on who knew their doubles faster - boys or girls.
The girls just baaaaaarely won!
To help us as we begin to memorize those doubles facts, we used some flashcards similar to these. Our flashcards have pictures that help us see the doubles.
An exciting event that happened before I left was having our Enrichment teacher, Ms. Matthews, visit our classroom for a challenge!
She challenged us to create a latch that would keep Goldilocks out of the 3 Bears' house, but let the 3 Bears get in when they return home.
The students were limited by only a few select supplies and the number of supplies allowed. They LOVED it!
Have another great week!

In the afternoon, we had fun exploring our classroom pumpkin. We read
We made estimates of our pumpkin's circumference, the number of lines, and its height before conducting research.
The next day, we spent our time in math to figure out how many seeds we had.We ended up with MORE THAN 200!! Your first graders were exhausted after counting so high!
