Week in Review
This week, our kiddos began their investigation of Fairy Tales! Over the next several weeks, we will explore different fairy tales and apply various strategies to deepen our understanding. Our first text was Goldilocks and the Three Bears! The kids practiced identifying characters, settings, and events. To take it even further, we identified character traits and explained them using text evidence. We also had fun reading "fractured fairy tales" to make connections to the text.
In Language, we studied conjunctions. We used the ever popular School House rock video to help us remember this part of language at the beginning of the week:
We practiced matching them to sentences:
and we even made our own compound sentences with them!
We kicked off our new writing unit (fictional narratives) with some imagination in our "Writer's Theater."
In math, we focused on collecting and interpreting data. We decided to make "Monster Burgers."
We also played a few rounds of Rock, Paper, Scissors and graphed our results!
Here's to another great week!
