Week in Review
This week was a big week for us in writing. We spent a lot of time discussing what writers do and where ideas for writing come from. We read this book:
It taught us that the best stories come "from the heart." This let us spend time brainstorming what those stories are in each of our hearts.

We also explored other types of writing. Our focus in Comprehension has been relying on pictures to help us locate key details in a story to build our understanding. We practiced finding those details in a familiar story with our writing this week! The kids CRUSHED IT.

We also had fun just sharing our writing with our friends.
By the end of the week, we were able to work in groups to actually score writing based on these components:
The kids worked in groups and helped to prepare an anchor chart for us to reference all year long.
We also learned a lot of new math games this week! One of them could easily be played at home with a deck of cards. It's called "Double Compare."

This is helping to lay the foundations of addition. It is always so fun to see the different startegies students are using. Some prefer to draw, others use number lines, some prefer counting on, some use fingers or other manipulatives, and others have mastered their facts! No matter the strategy they've chosen - they're having FUN in math!

Have a great week!
