Week in Review
I was able to brag and brag and brag about this class this week. At the beginning of the week, first grade teachers from a fellow Fayette County School came into our classroom to watch how our Wellington students learn. Many teachers had to clarify that we truly were a first grade classroom because they were so impressed with your students. You should be so proud of the work they have put in to become such wonderful readers and writers. It is really becoming evident to me AND teachers they've never even met!

Some of what these other teachers were able to observe is the amount of independence your students have gained in doing their own research. We have been researching an animal of our choice using resources such as PebbleGo! If your child is interested in using this at home, please contact me and I can provide you with the necessary login information :)

In math, we began working on adding 3 numbers together!!! We did so well with it that we crammed 3 addend word problems into the same week. Piece of cake.

We also completed our final fluency check this week. It was amazing to see the improvements in words per minute AND retelling.
(These guys are using some colored pages to help push their eyes forward and rely less on their fingers for tracking).

We also participated in one of my favorite assemblies: the Jump Rope for Heart Kickoff! We watched some talented kids perform jump rope tricks that we could only dream of doing!

I was so sad to miss Friday but I am so ready to begin another week of learning with your first graders. Have a great week!
