Week in Review
We have worked so hard on identifying key details and using features in texts. These two things help us to ensure we are using the complete text to help us understand what the author is telling us. This week, our texts focused on movement. By the end of the week, our students were writing their own passages about how their body helps them move!

We also put our writing to work to help us wrap up our first books! Our first book is a personal narrative. These will go home with your first grader at the end of the year!

These books helped us work on our handwriting, transition words, story telling, and sequencing. The kids had a blast. :)

Our focus in math was finding missing addends. There are many strategies to solve for a missing addend, however, we were mostly focusing on counting on. As time goes on, your student might also begin to subtract to solve these problems!

Every day, we begin with a mental math problem. We use this time to discuss strategies, as well as misconceptions.

From here, we break into groups! Groups work on different skills. This group was working on figuring out "how many more" to make a certain number.

By the end of the week, we all wrote our own Missing Addend word problem about a sneaky thief!

Our focus in language has been to ensure we are writing sentences with correct capitalization and punctuation. We like to incorporate some movement into this time so we love a good round of Write the Room! :)

Have a FABULOUS week!
